The important notice about the temporary Chinese visa exemption

From 0:00 on December 1, 2023 to 24:00 on November 30, 2024 (Beijing time), ordinary passport holders who are nationals of Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Malaysia will be exempt from the Visa requirements for entry into China for business, tourism, family visits and transit for a period not exceeding 15 days.

Nationals of the above countries whose purpose of travel is not one of the above or whose period of stay exceeds 15 days, and service passport holders who are nationals of Spain, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands will still need to apply for their Chinese visa before the trip.

Case 1: Spanish applicant with stay in China does not exceed 15 days

Visa application requirements: Exempt from visa requirements to enter China
Area of application: Ordinary passport holders who are nationals of Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Holland and Malaysia
Exemption duration: TEMPORARY, from 0:00 on December 1, 2023 to 24:00 on November 30, 2024 (Beijing time)

Case 2: Spanish applicant with a stay in China exceeding 15 days

If you have another reason for traveling other than business, tourism, family visit and transit for a period of stay exceeding 15 days, you will need a visa to enter China. These are the essential requirements to obtain a visa for China:

Chinese visa application requirements

Valid passport: Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months of validity and two blank pages for the visa.
Visa application form- Complete the visa application form accurately and submit it along with the required documents.
Passport photos- Provide recent passport size photographs that meet the specifications outlined (bare head or no cap, full face, with a white background size: 48mm*33mm) by the Chinese embassy or consulate.
Proof of travel arrangements- Present confirmed round-trip airline tickets or an itinerary demonstrating your travel plans.
Financial proof: Show evidence of sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in China, such as bank statements from the last three months or traveler's checks.
Letter of Invitation: If you are visiting China for business reasons, you may need an invitation letter from a Chinese company or organization.

If you apply for a visa in a country other than that of your citizenship, you must present the certificate of legal status. A valid residence permit, work permit or student permit must be presented; or other valid certificates issued by the related authorities of the country where it is located.
