Shanghai Metro Self-Service Luggage Storage: Travelling Around the City Without Worries

Recently, Shanghai Metro has implemented the new self-service luggage drop-off service. Currently, the service has been installed in 32 metro stations, with a total of 61 luggage drop-off points and 1.760 lockers. Tourists taking the metro to the airport and train station can enjoy this service.

How to store luggage on the Shanghai subway

The storage service is provided by two smart locker service providers, Xiaotie and Fengchao, and can be accessed through their mini programs by wechat/alipay.

Lockers come in three sizes: small, medium and large.

The volume of small storage is (35 cm * 27 cm * 25 cm), which can store backpack-sized items;
The volume of the medium storage is (35 cm * 46 cm * 52 cm), which can store a 20-inch (50,8 cm) suitcase or similar items;
The volume of large storage is (35 cm * 94 cm * 52 cm), which can store a 28-inch suitcase. The usage fee starts from 4 yuan per hour.

You can easily enter the self-service storage by scanning the QR code using WeChat or Alipay, or you can contact us by email to book the storage service.

Special Tips:

All storage locations are located within the station's fare area. Passengers must pass security checks and enter the station before storing their luggage.
It is strictly prohibited to store flammable, explosive, toxic and other prohibited items.
The luggage storage service hours are synchronized with the station's operating hours. The luggage storage service is only available during station operating hours. Please pay attention to the schedules of the first and last trains from the station.
